Our studies have shown that RFID enabled processes can significantly improve patient safety and care at hospitals. These processes provide hospitals with the ability to:

• Promote patient safety & quality of services by providing Point of Care Visibility - deliver the right blood to the right patient (from sample collection to transfusion administration)
• Provide visibility of blood products outside of Transfusion Services – this includes the ability to provide final disposition of blood products, identifying current storage location (outside of transfusion services), and enforcing operational parameters such as temperature range.
• Reconciliation of shipments to and from blood center – specifically by providing an automated way to capture:
  • Actual vs. expected shipments from blood center
  • Actual returns vs. received by blood center
  • Exception handling process to resolve missing or excess item errors
